Welcome to the EDEX site: Our focus is to support educators interested in exploring and applying the power of the reflective group

Our new project is attracting quite a lot of interest. You can get more information about it by clicking on the title.

Focus on Interactions: A self paced school development process with on-line concept map & personal portfolio

Another way into this process of gathering evidence of practice, joining with others to reflect on and critique your work, and then applying your new thinking to what you do is by reconceptualising the notion of principal appraisal. The following package of materials is based around a project which we have been supporting in the Wellington region.

Principal Appraisal: The pedagogical leader

We have chosen Principal Appraisal as the focal point for this project as this is a mandated activity, time and energy is already allocated, and joining this project will not be an additional cost on school funds as it is currently funded by the Ministry. This project takes an alternative view from the traditional by involving teaching staff collecting evidence of their classroom interaction and in critiquing their practice in a Quality Learning Circle group setting. It leads to a collection of data from which correlations between the principal's intention and current classroom teaching and learning can be made.

Click here for a brief rational and a summary of how this would look in practice.

If you would like to take part in this project please select the registration page and chose Pathway 2.
After registration you will be able to access the Appraisal Module which provides all the suggested data gathering instruments, templates for QLC meeting summaries, access for all staff to individually passworded copies of the concept map and web diary, suggested readings, general advice, and occasional audiographic conferences. Board of Trustee reports can also be provided if requested.
We look forward to hearing from you.
